London hosts Eagles, Black Stars friendly

THE Nigeria Football Association (NFA) may have waken up from its slumber, as arrangements have been concluded for an international friendly match between the Super Eagles and West African arch rival, Black Stars of Ghana. The friendly match, which will hold on February 7 in London, is aimed at preparing the Eagles for the 2008 Africa Nations Cup. The soccer house also wants to use the friendly against Ghana to execute its plans of keeping the national team in good shape. Coach Austin Eguavone would be leading the Eagles against the Ghanaian team.
An earlier friendly between the two countries at the same venue in July could no hold. Nigeria defeated Ghana 1-0 during the group stage at the 2006 Africa Nations Cup in Egypt with defender, Taye Taiwo scoring from a free kick. Before the encounter at the Port Said Stadium, Egypt, last January, the last encounter between the two teams took place in Mali during the 2004 edition of the Nations Cup. The Eagles won the tie 1-0, with midfielder Garba Lawal providing the goal. While the Black Stars made it to Germany 2006 World Cup, the Super Eagles failed to do so
